GRIFFIN HUMPHREYS

Hailing from Columbia, Missouri, Griffin Humphreys ran for the Kansas City Roos and finished his studies at the University of Missouri, prior to establishing himself as a prominent steeple and distance coach.

He began his coaching career at at Portland State University in Oregon, just prior to 2017 cross country season. Upon taking tenure at Portland State, the Vikings underwent a revival of their distance program. While at Portland State, Griffin oversaw the breaking of half of the school records for distance events, and oversaw the best men's and women's team finishes at the Big Sky Conference and NCAA West Regional cross country meets. Among these records and finishes were 3 NCAA qualifications, 2 NCAA All-American Honors, and 2 Big Sky individual titles.

In addition to these collegiate coaching successes, his involvement in the 2020 Olympic Silver Medalist and 2017 World Outdoor Silver Medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Courtney Frerichs’ training highlights his strength as a steeple and strength coach. Griffin joined Puma Elite Running Team in the autumn of 2023.
